Aww you love me! Big thanks to Brittany of Va-Voom Vintage and Miss B of Miss B's Daydreams for giving me the Stylish Blogger Award.
The rules say I have to share seven things about me (that you don't already know? That's going to be hard - is there anything left to learn about me?) and then pass the award on. So here goes...
1. I'm super lazy. This doesn't come as a surprise to any readers who know me in real life.
2. The only parts of sewing I really enjoy are the planning stage and the finished project! The whole process in between drives me slightly dotty. Except straight seams - I can handle straight seams.
3. I have about 34 dresses (I just counted 32, then remembered one that's in the wash, and I may have miscounted, and should I include my house dress / dressing gown?). Of these, about half are vintage (40s-70s), and four are made by me. Doing this count I discovered three or four dresses I never wear, so they're probably headed for the shop to make room for more home-made dresses. I've decided that home-made is the way to go for clothes that I love and actually fit properly.
4. I have 14 pairs of shoes (not counting trainers or flip-flops): five black (in various styles and heel heights), two red, two navy, one brown, three sandals, and the Irregular Choice robot shoes.
5. I have no wisdom teeth. Clearly I am not wise.
6. Ever since I went to Japan I've been fascinated by Lolita fashion. In fact the time I spent in Tokyo was quite an eye-opener to alternative fashion and is perhaps partially to credit for my switch to wearing a vintage look full time. I do have a weakness for kawaii kitsch, especially in earrings.
7. I consider myself a culinary adventurer: I ate alligator soup in Malaysia, and barbecued rat and frog curry in Cambodia - but drew the line at toasted tarantula. I'm passing this award forward to some bloggers I've been enjoying recently:
Tickety Boo Tupney
Landgirl 1980
Penny Dreadful
Porcelina's World
Voodoo Stitches
Adventures in Dressmaking
Dial V for Vintage
Justice Pirate
Vintage Rose
La Ville Inconnue
No wisdom teeth huh? You sure are wise when it comes to homemaking dresses! And coordinating!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the award! This one is doing the rounds and I do already have it. Does that make me uber stylish? I doubt it :)That said, I am no less grateful :) Thank you :)
I wish I was as brave as you with trying new foods, and thanks for the award!

Congrats on the award! I was also born without wisdom teeth. I'd gladly trade some wisdom for not having to have them extracted!
ReplyDeleteLolita fashion is amazing. I have been a big lover of Japanese fashion since 1998 and used to dress a lot like it myself but that is because i didn't know where to get vintage clothing since there are no shops nearby (other than one that opened less than a year ago). I loved reading your entry!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been tagged LOADS for this and raelly should do a combination of tags I've received and just do an entry already. Thanks for tagging me. I'll do something in time, I mean it!!
Oh, its so much fun to learn things that are a bit different about the people behind the blogs!
ReplyDelete...and I havent got any wisdom teeth either, so I guess we're in the same place when it comes to that ;)

ReplyDeleteIt surprises me that so many vintage lovers come out of the closet {per say} as Lolita Fashion lovers too ~ but perhaps it shouldn't as I am the same! I love lolita, but feel like vintage style is as 'doll' like as I am brave enough to get.
Hmmm, maybe we all just want to look like princesses even if we are wearing period clothes!
xox,
bonita of Depict This!

Thank you so much Charlotte, that is a pleasant surprise!
ReplyDeleteI love trying new foods too, though I haven't been as adventurous as you. I have had frog and snails in France, and pigs ears and raw sea urchin in Japan. don't think I could face the roasted spider either! x
Thank you for passing the award to me! :)
